The Figure Skating Club of Charleston (FSCC) is a member club (club # 518) of United States Figure Skating (US Figure Skating) which is the governing body of the sport of figure skating in the United States. Origin and Purpose
The Figure Skating Club of Charleston was founded on March 1, 1998, and became a member club of US Figure Skating in May of 2000.
The Figure Skating Club of Charleston is a non-profit organization, dedicated to the promotion of amateur figure skating. The purposes of the club are: to encourage the instruction, practice and advancement of the members in any or all of the disciplines of figure skating; to encourage and cultivate a spirit of fraternal feeling among ice skaters; and to carry out the general policies of the US Figure Skating. Activities and Competitions
The FSCC sponsors figure skating tests, which are a measurement of progress and determine an individual's competition level in the various figure skating disciplines. Tests sessions are currently held three times per year.
The Charleston Open is our annual competition, traditionally held the last week-end in July. It is a US Figure Skating sanctioned competition and offers events in all disciplines of figure skating. A Basic Skills competition is included in the Charleston Open.
Fun social activities are held throughout the year. The annual Awards Picnic this year will take place at a beach house on the Isle of Palms on Saturday, July 12, 2008 from 1:00 until 5:00 pm.
